Project Vignettes

Project vignettes are brief, self-contained snapshots of technical work. They illustrate problem framing, modelling approach, and decision logic without disclosing confidential details or reducing complex work to promotional summaries.

Thermo-fluid modelling under experimental constraints

Engineering Digital Twin

A thermo-fluid system operating near phase-change limits required predictive insight across a wide operating envelope, while experimental measurements were limited in both spatial and temporal resolution. A physics-based CFD workflow was designed with targeted model calibration to available data. Reduced-order representations were derived to support parametric exploration and sensitivity assessment, enabling informed design decisions without reliance on single-point predictions.

Assessing long-term computational readiness

Quantum Readiness

An R&D group sought clarity on whether emerging computational paradigms could materially influence their long-term modelling strategy. A readiness assessment was conducted to map existing workflows, skill sets, and problem classes to plausible future pathways, without assuming near-term performance gains. The outcome informed research prioritisation and capability planning rather than immediate technical change.

Structuring decision risk in model-driven investment

Assessment of Intangibles

A capital decision depended heavily on simulation outputs with significant uncertainty and embedded assumptions. A structured assessment framework was applied to make sources of uncertainty, model limitations, and decision sensitivities explicit. This enabled transparent discussion of risk exposure and confidence bounds across technical and financial stakeholders.
